Flap Surgery
Flap Surgery
In order for a tooth to grow properly, it needs to be anchored securely in the gums. If gum disease is left unchecked, the gums might begin to separate from the teeth, allowing for bacteria to grow, which can lead to infections or bone loss, and might ultimately result in the necessity to have the tooth pulled.
Flap surgery is used to better secure the teeth in the gums. The tartar or calculus deposits are scraped away and the bone that has been damaged is reshaped, which will eventually reduce the space between the gums and teeth, allowing the teeth to sit more firmly in the gums.
